What Are the Advantages of Invisalign®?

thinking about advantages of invisalignDespite the fact that straightening crooked teeth is necessary to protect your dental health, many adults still choose to avoid braces for fear of embarrassment and/or inconvenience. If orthodontic treatment were more discreet and less of a hindrance in everyday activities (like brushing your teeth), more adults may be more inclined to accept treatment. With Invisalign® clear braces, you now have that option. Consisting of custom-made aligners, rather than metal or ceramic brackets and wires, Invisalign’s advantages include remaining nearly-undetectable, and allowing you to eat and practice good hygiene more easily.

More Comfortable than Braces

Traditional braces require a number of different components, such as the brackets that attach to your teeth and the arch wire that connects them. The wires and brackets can take a while to grow used to, and as they jut out, you might occasionally scrape the soft tissues of your lips, cheek, and tongue. By contrast, Invisalign’s aligners are constructed as solid, custom-fit appliances, made from smooth, clear acrylic that rests comfortably and snugly over your teeth.

More Convenient than Braces

As single, solid appliances, Invisalign aligners are placed over your teeth, and shaped to gently guide crooked ones into more symmetrical positions. Throughout the day, you can temporarily remove the aligners to eat, drink, brush and floss your teeth, or take a picture of yourself smiling.

More Discreet than Braces

Being made from clear acrylic, Invisalign’s most prominent advantage is the fact that they are nearly-invisible when in place. Even at close distances, your aligners will not be obvious, and unless you specifically tell someone, they will not be able to easily detect them. Also, since there are no brackets bonded to your teeth, you will not have to worry about staining or discoloration when the treatment is completed.
