What Does Family Dentistry Include?

You know how to keep your family’s oral health on track at home. This includes making sure everyone is brushing, everyone is flossing, nobody is sneaking candy or snacks before bedtime, and it means keeping dental hygiene products stocked! What you might not know beyond that, however, is all that you can expect from family dentistry from our practice. Did you know that we are here to help with your every need? Let’s talk details!

Prevention, Of Course

First up for family dentistry? Your prevention! When you and your family are on board with preventive dental care, you have nothing to worry about. We will help you avoid problems (or catch them very, very early, for successful treatment). This part of your care may include dental cleanings, as well as dental checkups, during which we keep a lookout for problems like oral cancer and gum disease.

Periodontal Treatment

Perhaps you or a family member develops gingivitis. You are not out of luck! This stage is the initial phase of gum disease. It’s completely treatable and something we can help you with by providing a deep cleaning, also known as scaling (to remove tartar from beneath your gum tissue) and planing (to smooth affected teeth).

TMJ Disorder Treatment

Tense, aggravated jaw joints that aren’t functioning at their best can happen to anyone. Part of our family dentistry is treatment we call TMJ disorder treatment. With the use of a comfortable night guard, you can protect those joints, so they have time to relax and recover.

Care For Sensitive Teeth

We prescribe a variety of toothpastes (that you cannot pick up at the drugstore) that offer powerful protection against sensitivity. We can also guide you and any family member toward solutions to limit sensitivity!
